The winner is...

Canon 20D

I finally decided to go with the Canon 20D. In part because of this review:

The 20D is very similar to the new 30D for less $. I could get a flash for the extra $ I would spend on a larger display on the 30D. That's about the only differnece between the 20D and 30D.
